Dan Chambeaux/Shamble Zombie PI novels by Kevin J. Anderson (i've got all of them, they're good!) his girlfriend is a ghost. she died not too long before Dan did and they both came back from the dead to solve their own murders.

so yeah, no. it is way too derivative. first novel by Anderson came out September 2012. this episode aired November 2006. Anderson hasn't published a new Shamble PI book in a great number of years though.

Harry Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. he's a wizard. and a PI. first novel published in 2000. i've got all those, and Mr. B is still publishing them, he put two novels out in 2020.

so yeah, speculative fiction aka urban fantasy is a well trodden genre that's both filled with the dead in the water and swimming with strange icky and bizarrely still alive franchises.

a ghost of a cop come back to haunt her murderer(s)? yeah. i doubt it'll be any good. sounds like crap hack writing with some necrophiliac twists. it is a girl ghost. also, the way the sensei was reading it? the dude wrote it all in third person. that will suck hot sweaty donkey bawls. no American would ever read that past the first 3 chapters. could you stand the old Neon Dion Sanders walking through your novel saying, 'No, no, no, Dion does not approve. This is not what Dion asked for.'
